Haricharan

Haricharan Seshadri, better known as Haricharan, is a popular playback singer in the South Indian film industry. His breakthrough came with the widely acclaimed song ‘Unakkena Iruppen’ which earned a nomination for the National Film Awards in 2005, catapulting him into the limelight.

Haricharan hails from a musically inclined family, with roots deeply embedded in the Carnatic tradition. His early exposure to music, under renowned mentors such as Smt. Sethu Mahadevan, K. V. Narayanaswamy, T. M. Prabhavathi, and P. S. Narayanaswamy, laid the foundation for his career as a Carnatic vocalist and playback singer.

Haricharan's foray into playback singing began at a tender age, with his debut Tamil film song in Joshua Sridhar's music for the film ‘Kaadhal’ when he was merely 17 years old. This marked the inception of a prolific journey, as he went on to lend his soulful voice to numerous songs in Tamil, Malayalam, Telugu, and Kannada cinema. 

However, it was his rendition of the song ‘Thuli Thuli’, composed by the maestro Yuvan Shankar Raja for the movie ‘Paiyaa’ (2010), that firmly established Haricharan as a household name in the industry. His emotive vocals and effortless delivery struck a chord with audiences, earning him widespread acclaim and establishing his status as a sought-after playback singer across the southern film industries.

Haricharan's musical skills are not limited to playback singing; he is also recognized for his proficiency as a Carnatic vocalist, inheriting his grandfather's legacy of mic-less Carnatic concerts. 

Over the years, Haricharan has collaborated with esteemed composers and musicians, including Yuvan Shankar Raja and A. R. Rahman, lending his voice to a myriad of chart-topping hits. His contribution to the soundtrack of ‘Kochadaiiyaan’ (2014), where he sang alongside Rajinikanth for the song ‘Maattram Ondrudhaan Maradhadhu’ further enhanced his reputation as an accomplished singer in the industry.
